Mike Portnoy is the founding member and drummer for 25 years in Dream Theater as well as drummer in his side-projects Liquid Tension Experiment and Transatlantic...he has also recorded &/or toured with Avenged Sevenfold, Neal Morse, OSI, Hail!, Fates Warning, Overkill, G3 and his tribute bands with Paul Gilbert: Yellow Matter Custard, Hammer Of the Gods, Amazing Journey and Cygnus & The Sea Monsters. He is currently working with new projects featuring Russell Allen, Mike Orlando, Steve Morse & Casey MacPherson (amongst others..)
Mike's long list of Awards include 26 Modern Drummer Magazine Reader's Poll Awards including: 2004 Hall of Fame Inductee, 2011 MVP of the Year, Best Progressive Rock Drummer (12 years in a row!!), Best Clinician (twice), Best Educational Video/DVD for Liquid Drum Theater, and Best Recorded Performance of the Year (7 times) for Dream Theater's Awake, A Change of Seasons, Falling Into Infinity, Scenes From A Memory, Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence & Score and Avenged Sevenfold's Nightmare.
